Drop me a note...

At long last.

What has been a dream for over 20 years is about to become a reality. With that said, the reality of hiking 2,650 miles and living in the outdoors for 4 months might seem more like a nightmare. Surely, I'll find out.

Around May 1, 2002 I'll begin my thru-hike attempt of the Pacific Crest Trail starting at the Mexican border in Campo, California. If all goes well and I actually finish, the journey should end sometime in mid September 2002 at Manning Park, British Columbia, Canada. Areas to be traversed are: Southern California Deserts, The San Jacintos Mountains, The San Bernardino Mountains, The Sierras and The Cascades. This includes 6 of the 7 lifezones, over 40 state and national parks, and numerous wilderness areas.

Within these few electronic pages you'll find information about the Pacific Crest Trail, gear, planning and updates of my journey. Periodically, I'll be sending journal entries via email from town stops along the way. These daily monologues will find their way into my journal for your perusal, courtesy of Darcy. (Thank you Darcy!)

If you'd like to send me an E-Mail while I'm on the trail, please do so, I'd love to hear from you. However, allow 1 to 2 weeks for delivery and response; the beat of my drum obliterates all but the most earnest distractions.

Note: In 2002 I completed 1984 miles of the trail, Campo CA to Sisters OR, before becoming 'tired' of the routine of trail life. In 2003 I've completed the Sisters OR to Stehekin WA leg for another 564 miles. That leaves 82 miles left to do. Maybe I'll finish it next year or when I'm 70. What's the rush? :)
